Getting Connected In Dubai and Abu Dhabi, the easiest way to get connected to call home is to purchase a SIM card for your mobile phone. Most places that sell mobile phones also sell SIM cards. The two telecom companies that sell these cards are Du and Etisalat.
What do you need? A passport copy, driving license, Emirates ID or labor card as proof of identity.
Where do you go?
Most shops that sell mobile phones also sell SIM cards. In some cases, you have to buy a phone but, in most places, they will sell the card separately. The shops will take photocopies of your identity proof and ask you to complete a form. Once completed, you will be allowed to choose from the various SIM cards. It will then take another 24 hours for the card to become ‘live’.
