Sick Leave
If an employee is sick and provides a medical certificate or equivalent if working in another emirate, sick leave shall be paid as
follows:
- the first 15 days with full pay;
- the next 30 days with half pay;
- Any subsequent periods without pay;
Employees are not entitled to any paid sick leave during the probation period.
Sick days should be recorded on the monthly timesheet as they occur.
Staff who cannot report to work due to sickness shall notify their respective Line Manager / Department Heads prior to the start of the shift. Valid medical certificate must be submitted to the HR department upon resumption of duties.
Failure to produce a medical certificate with a claim for sickness shall result in the days not worked being treated as Annual Leave.
Medical certificates submitted will be treated in confidence and retained by the Human Resources Department.
Pay for the purpose of sick leave entitlement comprises basic salary and all allowances.
Employees may, at the discretion of Manzil Home Health Services Management, be terminated upon exhausting ninety days sick leave and being unable to return to work.
Sick leave shall not be paid if the illness is the direct result of the Employee’s misconduct such as consuming alcohol or narcotic drugs.
Weekly rest days, falling during the sick leave period shall be considered as part of the sick leave. Illnesses during a scheduled leave will not be reported as sick leave and will count as that particular leave of absence.
Sick leave is not accrued, is not carried over into a new financial year and has no monetary value
